Drip, Drip

My most recent grandrounds was about a shoulder abscess in a diabetic. One of the questions raised was what could have caused the shoulder abscess. One point raised was that the patient had massages done on her shoulder which could have "contaminated" the area. One of the consultants blamed the massage therapist for not having clean hands. Can't help but smile and be reminded of a bad experience...

After a long day, nothing beats a good massage to relax. You've got your spas and massage outlets in every mall with a variety of massages to choose from. The best massage I had was from an old lady in Los banos, Laguna. The worst came from a mall...

...it was a long and tiring day from the hospital. i was lucky to have a weekend halfday and my dad dropped by to pick me up. We were supposed to pick up my mom at the mall but then we decided to stay for dinner. It was a bit early and I was feeling a bit sore from sleeping on the couch so my dad suggested I get a massage. I don't usually get massages from malls or spas. (I usually like to have massages at a beach resort on vacations). My dad suggested a blind massage. Well ok the place wasn't so bad. The lighting was dim, music was relaxing, it looked sterile enough so i agreed. While I was lying on the bed face down and getting my calf muscles massaged I felt something cold hit my right ankle. My immediate assumption was it probably came from the airconditioning.

I looked up but the airconditiong was a few feet away. Nothing was dropping from the ceiling. I turned to ask the person massaging me to check where it came from. lo and behold, mouth agape, drool was dripping carefree to the massage table. I AM NEVER GETTING A BLIND MASSAGE AGAIN.
